I am glad Maserati have gone this way, as I feel this has produced some of the nicest cars they have ever had available. And my personal favourite? The Maserati GranTurismo, which combines all the smooth elegant shapes and lines to create what I consider to be one of the best looking cars on the marketing nowadays. I am sure it isn't perfect, but in the constantly evolving world of car manufacturing and design I think they are pretty close to hitting the nail on the head. After all, the GranTurismo is sculpted from its long bonnet through to the slope of its boot, and it really is quite a masterpiece!

Racing Flashback: On Board Video of Juan Manuel Fangio Driving the Maserati 250F

In today's world of motorsports, much to the delight of fans, it's the norm to have one or more cameras fitted in the car or even in the driver's helmet. But that wasn't the case back in the 1950's, so we were quite surprised to discover such a video featuring the five-time Formula 1 World Champion and one of the greatest pilots of all time, Juan Manuel Fangio. A moment of coolness follows in the film after the break, with Fangio driving the Maserati 250F racecar at the Modena Aero-Autodrome.

New Maserati GranTurismo

Check out this 2008 Maserati GranTurismo sent to us by one of our fans, Fahad, featuring several styling and performance upgrades. First you will notice the stock wheels have been swapped with MHT 22-inch rims and wrapped in high performance tires.

Next, Fahad added a Novitec performance exhaust system and claims the sound is a little louder and better than the new Maserati GTS 2009 and 2010 models. Não foi tão longa quando DMC chamou a nossa atenção com seu pacote de ajuste para a Ferrari California , que eles chamavam de " Surfista ". Agora, os tuners alemães estão de volta com outro estilo de jogo, só que desta vez é para a irmã "da Ferrari Califórnia, o Maserati Gran Turismo MC Stradale.Ainda mais estranho é o fato de que enquanto a Stradale MC ainda não saiu - está programado para ir à venda na Europa no próximo ano - é um estilo kit DMC não é só para a MC Stradale , mas também permite que mesmo um padrão de Gran Turismo para se transformar em um Stradale MC.

Exterior e Interior

Paris Show: Maserati's 300+ km/h GranTurismo MC Stradale

As we told you in our previous post, the GranTurismo MC Stradale is a racier, sportier version of Maser's big coupe (think the GT3, but from Maserati). According to the Italian sports / luxury carmaker, the MC Stradale didn't budge an inch when it came to comprises in return for performance; it handles better without losing ride quality (that has yet to be tested), it's more powerful without sacrificing fuel economy, and it plants itself harder without adding any drag.

Under the hood is a Ferrari-sourced 4.7-liter V8 that develops 450 horsepower and 510 Nm / 376 lb ft of torque. The GT racer was also put on a diet, shedding 110 kilograms in the process (it now weigh 1,770 kg and keeps its 48/52 weight distribution).

According to the Italians, the MC Stradale is the first normal-production, road-going Maserati to break the 300km/h [186 mph] barrier.

The car routs power through an "electro-actuated" transmission that shifts in a scant 60 milliseconds; launched optimally, the car should hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds.

Inside, the car gets a "simplified" dash layout, loses the rear seats, and picks up some racing buckets (as well as an optional roll cage and 4-point harnesses). Also, besides having an "Auto" and "Sport" mode, there's the first-ever "Race" mode found in a road-going Maserati.

Back on the outside, there are a bunch of new little add-ons for performance, weight reduction, and just plain good looks. All-new parts included in the exterior modifications are: a new front splitter, front and rear bumpers, front guard panels, side sills, hood, and exhaust tips.

As long as you don't live in the US, Canada, or Korea, you might be able to spot one on the road after it goes on sale next February.
